UAW Local 251 represents workers who are in automotive, health care, rail transportation, financial services, sporting equipment, window manufacturing and other industries within southwestern Ontario. Local 251 is proud to be part of UAW Region 1 which covers the following counties in Michigan: Huron, Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, Sanilac, Tuscola and part of Wayne (including Detroit).

UAW Local 251 is also affiliated with the Ontario Federation of Labour and the Canadian Labour Congress. The UAW is one of the largest and most diverse unions in North America, with members in virtually every sector of the economy. UAW-represented workplaces range from multinational corporations, small manufacturers, casinos to colleges and universities, hospitals and private non-profit organizations
